I was trying to find street parking west of the river when the announcement came over The Score that Chicago had the least votes and was eliminated from the 2016 Olympic bid. There's probably some symbolism there in trouble finding parking in Chicago.
I drove on and talked to some fishermen who were celebrating. They expected pre-construction leading up to the Olympics would lock out the lakefront to public access.
And they may have been right. The lakefront would have been on lockdown for years before the Olympics.
But part of me is very sad. It would have been neat for myself and my family to see the Olympics in Chicago.
And I wonder what went wrong with the bid.
