Jim Sugarman thinks bear markets are a good time to try the outdoor show business.

So Sugarman took over the troubled Chicagoland Outdoors Show and with some audacity renamed it America's Outdoor Show. His goal is to keep and attract back such regular exhibitors as Denny Geurink, shown above three years ago with a bear at his booth.
I take a look at Sugarman's ideas and a broader look at outdoor shows place in 21st Century Chicago in today's outdoors column in the Sun-Times.
The show will be at the Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont from Jan. 27-31. Eventually more details will be posted at americasoutdoorshow.com.
