Sidetracked on a broadhead: Visiting Fred Lutger

| No Comments | No TrackBacks

I simply planned to visit Fred Lutger at his Freddie Bear Sports last week so the oldest boy could check out recurve bows, and we ended up with much more.

Lutger has quite the collection of broadheads and other bowhunting related stuff upstairs at his classic shop in historic downtown Tinley Park.

His story of finding out he had the only and only Peck & Snyder broadhead from 1878 was the gist of my column in the Sun-Times on Sunday.

Not to mention a fine collection of arrows, from Native American ones to flight arrows to one of a kinds.

All in all, it was quite the afternoon, one of those good times with a teenager, which are valuable enough for their own rarity.
