Fish of the Week: Chicago salmon

| | Comments (0) | TrackBacks (0)

This Fish of the Week goes back to earlier this month when salmon were coming on shore on the Chicago lakefront with some authority.

FOTW9-23-09

That's when Myron Washington caught the 18-pounder on a glow green wobbling spoon at Belmont harbor.

FOTW tops the Midwest Fishing Report each Wednesday in the Sun-Times. An extended online version is posted here, usually by midnight Tuesday.

Washington's fish made two long runs and took 20 minutes to land. Hopes are cooler water will bring fish like that back on shore this week.

Hopefully in time for the sixth annual Salmon Classic at Northerly Island from 6-9 p.m. Sunday. Registration begins at 5:30. There's free parking, prizes and medals. Call Henry's at (312) 225-8538 or go to henryssports.com.

E-mail FOTW nominations to outdoordb@sbcglobal.net.
