Nicole Lalka earns Fish of the Week honors for a representative of a good summer for big bass caught from the ponds and small lakes of the Chicago area.

FOTW tops the Midwest Fishing Report in the Sun-Times each Wednesday. An extended online version appears here by midnight Tuesday.
Lalka's husband Jerry sent this nomination and note:
I would like to submit the attached picture of my wife (Nicole Lalka) for F.O.T.W. She caught this 20 inch bass on Saturday the 15th in a small public pond near Algonquin. The pond is so small, it's hard to believe a bass of that size could be in there and not caught yet. We didn't weigh it (dead battery in scale) but it was released as always. Thanks for your consideration.P.S. She ALWAYS reads F.O.T.W. and the outdoors articles and seeing the picture would make her day!
I am happy to make the day for both of them.
For some reason this summer, I have received a bunch of bass nominations for FOTW in that 5- to 7-pound range. Not sure if there is any significance to it or not.
I love it. Keep them coming. FOTW nominations may be e-mailed to outdoordb@sbcglobal.net.
