There's been bigger Fish of the Week, but, so far, not caught by a bigger fish. State Rep. David E. Miller (D-Dolton) earns FOTW honors with an 8-pound coho.

Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. had Miller and a bunch of kids out fishing on a Capt. Al Skalecke charter out of Burnham Harbor over the weekend.

Miller's coho came while they were trolling a Pro King orange spoon on a downrigger east of Burnham. The 25.5-inch coho was weighed on the certified scales at Henry's Sports/Bait & Marine, then entered into the privately-funded Richard J. Daley Memorial Sportfishing Derby. It leads the coho division so far for August. Steve Palmisano filleted the coho for Miller.

Jackson was turned on to Lake Michigan fishing by the late Capt. Sam Romano. Skalecke has continued with regular fishing trips with Jackson. ``I never talk politics, but I will talk fishing,'' Skalecke said.

FOTW tops the Midwest Fishing Report each week. Nominations may be e-mailed to
