Cook County: For the birds

| 1 Comment | No TrackBacks

The Spring Bird Count in Cook County was a near record. Compiler Alan Anderson sent the final revised tallies, which included 62 checklists with 199 species. (Changed the Canada goose count to note the change Anderson noted.)

I find it fascinating to read through the species. With a good deal of amazement.

And then at the end seeing the one exotic reported, a Muscovy Duck. Having grown up on a farm, I find it amusing to see a Muscovy duck listed as an exotic.

There were more waterfowl than I would have expected, and only one ring-hecked pheasant.

There was one typo in the report (that was caught in an earlier submission but not in the update): Canada Goose totals should read 2,026 (not 5,026). All other numbers are accurate.

Thanks for posting this for all to see, Dale.
