Yeah, 9-year-old son Jack Rigoni had successful rite of passage for fishing his first ``rubber worm'' with his dad Gary at a Naperville retention pond on May 26.

``Wow, was he in for a surprise,'' Jack said.

Any fishing story with ``Wow'' and ``surprise'' is headed the right way.

Here's Gary's tale:

I just wanted to submit my sons 4lb Largemouth he caught on Saturday May 26th. I took my 9 yearold son Jack to a local retention pond in Naperville to try his luck fishing a rubber worm for the first time, wow was he in for a surprise. Jack was using a Berkley Powerbait 4 inch Motor oil worm Texas rigged and on his third cast hooked this 4lb post spawn female Largemouth. Jack fought this fish for a good 10 minutes and I was able to lip it for him, this was a great moment for Jack and a proud father. Its moments like this that make all the times we don't catch fish well worth it. I included some action shots of him fighting the fish as well.

Once again, not Fish of the Week, but part of a column on youth fishing.
