A belated congrats to Dan Basore for taking first in casting with old rods and reels at the Old Reel Collectors Association's National Convention on the grounds of the International Game Fish Association in Dania Beach, Florida.
The west suburban man is one of my favorite Chicago area outdoor people, a world-renowned collector of fishing artifacts and stuff, and a general fount of fishing history. So I am not surprised at his success in casting with old reels.
Basore took first in level wind reel and spinning reel. Texan Jay Herbert took first in non-level wind rell. So Basore was overall champ with Herbert second.
