I attended the IHSA fishing tournament to support my son and his team from Sandburg High School - and I have to praise the IHSA and the town of Carlyle - THEY DID A WONDERFUL JOB!!!!Our family walked away from this weekend with many great memories. The American Flag flying high on the IHSA boat while the National Anthem played was breath taking. THe way each boat and school was introduced as they set out to fish each morning was touching as well at the end of the tournament each boat was brought in on their trailer and introduced and their catch weighed in ( if needed). The announcers were very entertaining. My nieces took the state title for 3A volleyball for Joliet Catholic this year and that was great to experience - but the first IHSA bass fishing tournament was unbelievable and I am glad to be there and witness the event. Again - 10 stars to the town of Carlyle, Dave Gunnaway of the IHSA, and every coach out there for believing!!!!!

I was the boater in picture #1 and can say, that tournament was run as well as any I have been in myself. My name is goofed in this article, but thats ok, I made so much noise about that fish that you can see I scared the poop out of the campers on the hill and now Paul Z. gets the blame.

I will correct.

Thanks Dale, Paul gets the credit for keeping the guys pumped up and ready for the challenge, I just needed to keep them on the water. I have to say, that was the toughest body of water I have been on for a long time. We had water levels all over the place, cold fronts, pre-spawn bass and maybe a few post spawn, carp and gar tearing up the bank, muddy water and high winds. Hats off to every fisherman and fisher-women on the water both days for fighting through those tough conditions and staying with it.
