Jerry Mudryj sent this photo of a 73-pound blue catfish. For it, the Riverside man earns Fish of the Week honors.

Here's his brief tale.

This Blue Catfish, weighting 73lbs, was caught on the Mississippi River in southern Illinois on May 1. Jerry Mudryj is holding his trophy fish he caught with help from [Murphysboro] friends Tom Guetersloh and Zeke Schwinn.

Big blues are no stranger to the Mississippi River or Illinois. Tim Pruitt caught the world-record (124 pounds) on the Mississippi near Alton on May 21, 2005.
