This Blue Catfish, weighting 73lbs, was caught on the Mississippi River in southern Illinois on May 1. Jerry Mudryj is holding his trophy fish he caught with help from [Murphysboro] friends Tom Guetersloh and Zeke Schwinn.
Big blues are no stranger to the Mississippi River or Illinois. Tim Pruitt caught the world-record (124 pounds) on the Mississippi near Alton on May 21, 2005.
