James Ramirez caught a nice representative ice-out largemouth bass last week.
As much for how it represents the reliable ice-out technique of jig-and-pig as the actual fish, the 18-year-old from Des Plaines earns Fish of the Week honors.

Here's his story:
``Ice out Bassin! This bass was caught at a local lake on a jig and pig. I was letting my jig rest, and it picked it up. After a brief fight, We weighed the fish, and it tipped the scales at three pounds.''
The local lake was a public one in Cook County.
