Phil Brady died Saturday, according to his cousin Bob Shirley.

Mr. Brady, who was born in Chicago, ran the Countryside location of Ed Shirley Sports from many years from the 1970s to the early '90s.

``He was a big part of the success of Ed Shirley Sports and will be missed by everyone who knew him,'' Shirley said. ``I'm sure many of Phil's old customers are readers of yours and would like to know about his passing.''

Mr. Brady, 64, died after a long battle with cancer and donated his body to cancer research. He is survived by his wife Kathy, sons Matt and Joe, and daughter Karen.
