Father-son Bucks of the Week

Ken Murphy had reason to be proud for both himself and his son Mike. Maybe this should be Bucks of the Week.

They bagged these in Lawrence County opening day of the first firearm season.

BOTW tops the Illinois Hunting Report each Wednesday in the Sun-Times. The extended online version is usually posted here about midnight Tuesday. I will probably run BOTW longer than usual, probably into January because of a backlog of good bucks.

Here's Murphy's brief explanation of these beauts.

``Hi Dale my name is ken murphy my son is mike murphy we got these deer opening day of shotgun season in lawrence county my freind chuck weis said you might like to see them mine was 18 points and my sons was 9 points it was a great day for us.''

That's about as understated an explanation of bucks this big that I have heard. Great day indeed.

And thanks to Capt. Chuck, a perch-fishing buddy, for getting the photos forwarded to me.
