Gone Fishin' (sorta) and Housekeeping

| No Comments | No TrackBacks

I am disappearing for a few days, and expect to be away from the Web until Sunday night, so there will likely be no postings or updating of comments, after Weekender 3-20-08.

(On the housekeeping note: I'm in the process of setting up potential for posting photos within our system. Hopefully very soon. Big-fish photos matter.)

For now, I'm taking my annual few days away with the guys, something I've done for more than 20 years on the first weekend of the NCAA basketball tournament: hole up in a cottage on the shores of Lake Michigan in Berrien County, Mich.

With luck, there will be a morning or two of fishing on the St. Joseph River. One of the things I would like to accomplish in life is to catch a whitefish from Lake Michigan, and the piers at St. Joe can be mighty good for that right now. Otherwise, I may try for steelhead up at Berrien Springs.

And with luck I will hike the dunes a couple miles down to Grand Mere State Park at least once and see a sunset or two over Lake Michigan, if the snow allows.

But mostly we will watch the first two rounds of action, drink too much, play Pitch too late, watch and feed the birds, hike or cross-country ski a bit, eat vast quantities of pork and sauerkraut, chips, salsa, tortilla chips, and sausage gravy and biscuits, and catch up with life-long buddies.

And remember I still am a guy.
