Fantasy sports grate on my every sensibility.
I'm a sports-talk junky, but the instant any show starts fantasy talk, I turn the radio off or switch to Chicago's other sports talker. As bad radio, fantasy-sports talk ranks with five-team parlay segments.
Obviously I'm out of touch with the geek fringe of sports.
But I've escaped fantasy nonsense in fishing, other than minor fantasy connections to the two major bass-fishing circuits I could ignore.
Now FLW Fantasy Fishing cranks it up another level, as in the cumulative points winner collecting a guaranteed $1 million, according to FLW Outdoors. Players are now assembling their teams on fantasyfishing.com from events on Wal-Mart FLW Tour, which begins in February, or the Forrest Wood Cup.
With FLW Outdoors chairman Irwin Jacobs, the one-time corporate raider from Minnesota, behind it, the idea will fly.
Just spare me the fantasy chatter unless you collect one of the big prizes.
You are such a sports purest. Wake up to the fact the whole sports world is going fantasy. I hate it also but I'm sorry to say that's the way it is.
Dale,
I have to agree with you on fantasy sports talk on radio. Completely useless. I do however have to say that I have nothing better to do with my time. I have been playing Fantasy fishing for 4 years now. It helps me keep up with who is doing what in both the FLW & BASS. I did however hit a top 10 once in Fantasy FLW Walleye league. Oh well, I have no life. For those interested I have a BASS league starting for Fantasy Fishers in our area.
I listen to sports talk radio all day and I agree that sports talk radio is bad radio the second they start on the fantasy talk. But I love playing fantasy football you should give it a try. I'll even let you in one of my leagues
It just shows that Fishing is coming into the twenty first century. Hard to belive you can win $1,000,000 just for playing Fantasy Fishing.
