Daina Chaviano's The Island of Eternal Love (Riverhead, 336 pages, $25.95) has been translated into 20 languages around the world, including English, introducing Chaviano to English-speaking readers for the first time. Her story of "three families from opposite corners of the world — from Africa, Spain and China — that spans more than a century" is a dreamy tale of love and loss.

Read M.E. Collins' Sun-Times review of the book.
And if you're still unsure of what it's about or whether to read it, check out this bizarre "trailer" I stumbled upon on YouTube. There is no commentary, only imagery, music and text. I've never seen such a thing and am wondering if it helps sales?
Hi, Teresa:
I discovered the trailer after I read the novel (which I loved) and I thought it was a good idea to offer potential readers a summarized plot through images. This is not the first time I've seen this and I don't think it is bizarre. There are hundreds of other book trailers on youtube. Publishers are just looking for new ways to attract attention to their books.
That is a cool trailer!
What's bizzare about this? It is beautiful and haunting! I wish there were more book trailers as nicely done as this one. I'll look right away for this novel in Amazon.
Only bizarre to me because I'd never seen such a thing. The trailer itself is not bizarre. It's actually pretty cool.
