One player in particular who can't wait for training camp to start is Jeremy Morin.

The 20-year-old winger missed the remainder of last season with the Rockford Icehogs after he suffered what is believed to have been a concussion on Jan. 15, but has officially been called an "upper body" injury by Morin and the Blackhawks.

Hossa has been ruled out two to three weeks with what the team is calling a lower-body injury. The winger was injured during practice Monday when he collided with defenseman Nick Boynton.

Jeremy Morin's highly anticipated call-up lasted only two games. The Blackhawks sent their top prospect back to the Rockford IceHogs Monday.

The 19-year-old winger played nine minutes, three seconds Sunday against the Edmonton Oilers, recording only one shot. His NHL debut Saturday in Atlanta will be remembered for his willingness to block a shot that ended his first game prematurely.

''It was nice he showed he could play both sides of the puck," coach Joel Quenneville said. "At that time of the game, it was a big block. It showed he's willing to do anything to keep the puck out of the net.''

Morin's assignment doesn't mean Dave Bolland (rib) is set to return from injured reserve. Bolland is expected to return this week, but Bryan Bickell was also a healthy scratch Sunday.

Hossa.jpgBen Eager told me over the phone that the one player he was looking forward to facing the most was his old roommate Dave Bolland.

But that won't happen Saturday when the Hawks meet Eager and the Thrashers in Atlanta.

The Blackhawks recalled Morin from the Rockford IceHogs Friday. He will be on the second line with Patrick Sharp and Troy Brouwer Saturday when the Hawks face Dustin Byfuglien, Andrew Ladd, Ben Eager, Brent Sopel and the rest of the Atlanta Thrashers.

morin.jpgJust when it looked as if rookie winger Jeremy Morin had earned himself a spot on the Blackhawks roster, the team announces Monday that he's been assigned to the Rockford IceHogs.

With Morin gone, the Hawks have 13 forwards and nine defenseman, including rookie Nick Leddy, remaining on their roster with two days left to prepare for their season opener Thursday night against the Avalanche in Colorado.

Morin was one of the most impressive players in training camp and in exhibition play, outplaying other prospects such as Kyle Beach and Igor Makarov and putting pressure on older players considered favorites to make the Hawks.

"It was a good experience, my first time with the Blackhawks here," Morin said after the Hawks' final preseason game Sunday against the St. Louis Blues. "I think it went well. I had a pretty good preseason."
