For some reason or another, the Blackhawks' toughness often comes into question. Whether that's a warranted question is debatable.

The Hawks have shown some tenacity and abrasiveness lately. The willingness is there. Here are three examples:

CALGARY, Alberta -- Jake Dowell and Jack Skille, Wisconsin natives and big Packers fans, didn't have too much of a chance to revel in their team's Super Bowl win over the Steelers Sunday night.

After all, they were in Canada and not in Wisconsin on Sunday.

Hawks center Jake Dowell was a healthy scratch for the first time all season Monday night against the Los Angeles Kings.

The scratch came a day after Dowell was benched in the third period of a loss to the Anaheim Ducks.

Asked why Dowell didn't play in the final 20 minutes, coach Joel Quenneville said he wanted to double shift Marian Hossa.

But it was clearly more than that.
