FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- Right now, it looks like the Blackhawks won the Jack Skille-for-Michael Frolik trade with the Florida Panthers.

Skille is out with a high-ankle sprain and was a minus-8 in six games before leaving his seventh game in a Panthers uniform because of his injury. He has only one assist for Florida and is expected to miss two to four more weeks.

EDMONTON, Alberta -- The Blackhawks have traded Jack Skille, Hugh Jessiman and David Pacan to the Florida Panthers in exchange for forward Michael Frolik and the rights to goaltender Alexander Salak.

CALGARY, Alberta -- Jake Dowell and Jack Skille, Wisconsin natives and big Packers fans, didn't have too much of a chance to revel in their team's Super Bowl win over the Steelers Sunday night.

After all, they were in Canada and not in Wisconsin on Sunday.

Jack Skille will suit up for the Blackhawks Monday against the St. Louis Blues. He isn't expected to be healthy scratch like he was Saturday against the Buffalo Sabres.

skille.jpgLike others, I thought it was interesting -- or puzzling -- when John Scott remained in the lineup Saturday against the Buffalo Sabres and Jack Skille was a healthy scratch.

Skille's speed was very noticeable, especially when he and Viktor Stalberg were on the ice together. Scott's role changed and his ice time decreased. He took only three shifts as a replacement forward against the Blue Jackets Friday with Patrick Kane out sick and defenseman Jassen Culllimore recalled.

Skille.jpgJack Skille has been mentioned multiple times by Blackhawks general manager Stan Bowman as having a chance to play a bigger role in 2010-11.

Skille, a restricted free agent, just needed to be signed. Now, that appears to be done. The Hawks and Skille's camp have agreed upon a one-year deal, a source said.

Update: The deal is worth $600,000. That's a big difference than his cap hit of more than $1 million the past few years. That inflated cap hit was a reason why Skille didn't see much time with the Hawks.
