The Blackhawks have added some experience to their front office. Pierre Gauthier, the former general manager of the Montreal Canadiens, Ottawa Senators and Anaheim Ducks, will be the Hawks' new director of player personnel.
Gauthier, who has been attending the Hawks' prospect camp this week, takes over the position that Norm Maciver held before being promoted to assistant GM earlier this offseason.
in March, Gauthier, 59, was fired in Montreal during a tumultuous season in which he fired head coach Jacques Martin. In May, Marc Bergevin, who had handled various roles in the Hawks' organization, the most recent being assistant GM, was named GM of the Canadiens.
Gauthier's NHL career started in 1981 with the Quebec Nordiques. He joined the Canadiens in 2003 as the team's director of professional scouting.
