TAMPA, Fla. -- Defenseman Duncan Keith will miss his second consecutive game with a hand injury against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Friday. The hope is that he can play against the rival Vancouver Canucks at the United Center on Sunday.
"He's doing much better," coach Joel Quenneville said of Keith, who suffered the injury while blocking a shot against the Nashville Predators on Monday. "He's progressing."
Ray Emery will start in goal against the Lightning. Starter Corey Crawford saw plenty of action, turning away 41 of 43 shots in a 3-2 shootout victory against the Florida Panthers on Thursday.
But the plan always was to have Emery play in one of the back-to-back games, especially with the Canucks looming. Emery has two wins in two starts with a 2.50 goals-against average and a .915 save percentage.
"He's played solid," Quenneville said. "As games progress, he seems to get better and better and better. ... He seems to be controlling his rebounds well. He's a big guy. It's a nice 1-2 punch [with Crawford]."
The rest of the Hawks lineup will remain unchanged from the Panthers game.
