Brent Seabrook out for Game 5 against Canucks

VANCOUVER, British Columbia - Brent Seabrook's condition hasn't improved. So the Blackhawks will face another elimination game against the Vancouver Canucks without one of their best blue-liners.

"He's out," coach Joel Quenneville said. "He's day-to-day. There was a chance he could have played. We found out [Thursday] he is not."

Seabrook, who is suffering from a concussion after the head-high hit from Raffi Torres in Game 3, traveled with the Hawks to Vancouver, but apparently did not pass the protocol Thursday morning required to clear him for Game 5.

"That's part of it," Quenneville said. "He's just not ready to go. We'll leave it at that."

The Hawks will use the same in lineup from Game 4 in which they routed the Canucks 7-2 at the United Center. Tough guy John Scott, who has been in a war of words with Canucks defenseman Kevin Bieksa, will remain on defense for the Hawks.

"[Seabrook has] been one our best defensemen all year," Hawks captain Jonathan Toews said. "It's not easy and it's not fun to be missing a guy like that. But whether he's in or out, it doesn't' change our game plan. We adapt. Some guys play more or less. It doesn't matter. We'll be ready for whatever the situation is."

In Game 4, Nick Leddy (19:30) and Chris Camploli (23:30) both saw their minutes and responsibilities increase. The Hawks also were angered by the lack of a suspension for Torres.

"Having him out of the lineup, we need guys to step up," said defenseman Duncan Keith, who had a Norris Trophy-like performance in Game 4.. "I thought everybody played well. Nick Leddy is stepping up, playing a lot of minutes. He's a 19-year-old kid out there, playing great. We have to keep that going."
