As expected, defenseman Nick Leddy was recalled from the Rockford IceHogs by the Hawks for Friday's game against the Ottawa Senators.
Leddy just won the bronze medal with Team USA at the 2011 World Junior Championships in Buffalo. He had two assists and a plus-1 in five games.
The 19-year-old made the Hawks out of training camp, benefitting from an injured Brian Campbell, and played in six games. He scored his first NHL goal and was a minus-1.
"It's definitely a good feeling [being back with the Hawks]," said Leddy, who will play with Jordan Hendry Friday. "Hopefully, I can help the team out the best I can."
Leddy called the World Juniors an amazing experience.
"We could have played a little better at the start, " Leddy said. "But I'm glad we went out on a positive note. It was definitely a really fun experience."
DOWELL RETURNS
One of Joel Quenneville's most puzzling moves has come to an end. Center Jake Dowell is back in the lineup Friday against the Senators after being a healthy scratch the last two games.
"No one wants to sit and watch," said Dowell, who has the second-best plus/minus rating on the Hawks with a plus-10. "All you can do is learn from it and wait for your time and do what you're told and work hard."
Dowell is expected to center a line with Jack Skille and Troy Brouwer. Here are the other projected lines:
Stalberg -- Toews -- Kane
Kopecky -- Sharp -- Hossa
Bickell -- Bolland -- Pisani
Ryan Johnson, John Scott and Nick Boynton are expected to be the Hawks scratches.

Leddy is probably going to be groomed, developed, and watched to see if he can be the 3.5million dollar bust replacement for Hjammer. That guy has been a complete flop since the end of last season. Gets a huge raise because the Sharks, and former Hawk, Doug E Wilson cons little wet behind the ears Bowman to cough up big money and we keep Hjammer and lose Ladd to cover for his huge pay increase...the guy stinks this year---period. Argue it any way you choose---S-T-I-N-K-S. Lot of money given for the wrong reason to the wrong guy that cost us a proven player to keep him.
Nick I hope you work out well, and we can unload Hjammer and his big payday if any other suckers would dare take him.
Kane, Hossa, Hjammer---how about some healthy scratches for these guys Q? They arent performing, are playing scared, and seem too soft and happy about it all. The boos and cat calls are being shouted in the 300 Section now---havent heard those for 3 years. Its back. Pick it up eh boys?
