John Scott put it bluntly after the Hawks' 3-1 loss to the Blues on Tuesday.
"It was embarrassing," Scott said. "If we play like that we're going to lose the rest of the year."
Scott did his best to fire up the Hawks, squaring off with fellow tough guy Cam Janssen in the first period. But Janssen had the same thing in mind.
"I knew he'd probably be running around, so I wanted to set it off as quick as I could, get the boys going as soon as possible," Janssen told reporters.
Scott was looking forward to the bout. Janssen landed the first solid punch, but Scott recovered and ended strong.
"I know he was going to be a long fight," Scott said. "I tried to preserve myself for the end. He caught me with one good one and stunned be a little bit. But other than that I controlled the fight. I wanted to keep going but the refs came in there.
"I love fighting him. I saw him in warm-ups, and I was like, I want to beat him up bad."
Here's the video of their scrap.
It was the second time the two met this season. Scott and Janssen fought on Nov. 30, with Scott controlling much of the action.
