Brian Campbell returns to Blackhawks lineup

NEW YORK -- Brian Campbell is back.

The Blackhawks defenseman will return to the lineup a month to the day after spraining his right knee Oct. 1 in preseason play.

"I'm excited," Campbell said Monday before playing the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden. "It's been pretty boring the last month. I'm ready to go try and help out and get the feel for it again."

Campbell made it through a grueling skate Saturday in Minnesota. He felt good and got the OK to play.

"It feels pretty good," Campbell said. "Obviously, you're going to have pain for a little while longer. But I felt comfortable with it and I had a really good skate in Minnesota there. That was a tough skate they put me through. After that, it felt pretty good. It responded well."

Campbell will be reunited with Niklas Hjalmarsson, who has no points and a minus-8 rating in 11 games.

"It's a challenge playing with somebody new sometimes," Campbell said. "We want him to keep skating and moving the puck. ... He keeps a lot of stuff in as a player. Through thick and thin, he's always there for us. I'm excited to get back playing with him."

Lineup vs. Rangers

Here are the expected defensive pairings for Monday's game against the Rangers.

Keith -- Seabrook

Hjlamarsson -- Campbell

Cullimore -- Hendry

little concerned with Hawks, and their coaching of last couple weeks is hard to understand with all their line juggling. Glad to see Toews, Kane and Brower back together, pulled out the game in Minnesota along with Keith (who is just awesome) and Sharpie.
Defense should get better with Campbell returning, hopefully Keith and Seabrook get a little more rest. Need more of a lead to work with, games have been too close....times when it seems they have a lead but don't have a killer instinct to put things away.
Scott, not that good, should see what they could get for him via trade.
Wonder about Dowell, Skille and Stalberg, they were fast and furious as the fourth line, but then split apart, could not understand that.
Although Skille, just have my doubts at to see Kyle Beach and the young kid, Morin, and even Makarov, given a quick look, don't know if its the cap or what, Hawks brass don't let us know. Guys they bring up, not showing much.....lots of ramble jamble here, but its some thoughts

I agree totally. The season has been very up and down. Q needs to let them play through the ups and downs..
