NEW YORK -- Brian Campbell is back.
The Blackhawks defenseman will return to the lineup a month to the day after spraining his right knee Oct. 1 in preseason play.
"I'm excited," Campbell said Monday before playing the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden. "It's been pretty boring the last month. I'm ready to go try and help out and get the feel for it again."
Campbell made it through a grueling skate Saturday in Minnesota. He felt good and got the OK to play.
"It feels pretty good," Campbell said. "Obviously, you're going to have pain for a little while longer. But I felt comfortable with it and I had a really good skate in Minnesota there. That was a tough skate they put me through. After that, it felt pretty good. It responded well."
Campbell will be reunited with Niklas Hjalmarsson, who has no points and a minus-8 rating in 11 games.
"It's a challenge playing with somebody new sometimes," Campbell said. "We want him to keep skating and moving the puck. ... He keeps a lot of stuff in as a player. Through thick and thin, he's always there for us. I'm excited to get back playing with him."
