Defenseman Brian Campbell will travel with the Hawks on their two-game road trip to Minnesota (Saturday) and New York (Monday).
But will he play? The Hawks could certainly use him after Marian Hossa was ruled out two weeks with an upper-body injury.
The answer is ... "doubtful," according to coach Joel Quenneville. And why rush him? The Wild and Rangers aren't exactly the class of the NHL.
Campbell said earlier this week that he doesn't "feel 100 percent in all areas.'' If this were the playoffs, then yes put him in. The Hawks did that last year.
But it's early in the season. There is no reason to rush him back to the lineup if he's not 100 percent ready.
The same goes for Hossa. Of the six or seven games Hossa is expected to miss, the Nashville Predators (Nov. 13) are the only team making waves this season. He could also return against the Predators, seeing that it's past two weeks at that point.
With the circus trip looming in the last two weeks of November, making sure Campbell and Hossa are healthy and ready to go should be the Hawks' priority.
