SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Former Hawks general manager Dale Tallon will take over the Florida Panthers, replacing current general manager Randy Sexton.

Tallon will be introduced at a press conference Tuesday at 11 a.m. (EST) in Sunrise, Florida at BankAtlantic Center.

"It is with great pleasure and excitement that I join the Florida Panthers," Tallon said in a statement. "I would like to thank Managing Partners Cliff Viner and Stu Siegel, Alternate Governor Bill Torrey and President/COO Michael Yormark for giving me the opportunity to put my mark on this franchise.

"I look forward to getting to work and will immediately evaluate our club's framework, as we diligently prepare for the upcoming draft and free agency signing period."

Tallon had been with the Hawks for more than 30 years as a player, broadcaster and front-office executive.

Tallon was the team's general manager when the Hawks drafted current stars Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews. Tallon also traded for forwards Patrick Sharp, Andrew Ladd and Kris Versteeg and signed defenseman Brian Campbell as a free agent.

After a contract snafu in the summer, Tallon was replaced by Stan Bowman as general manager and reassigned to a senior advising position.

Tallon will be the ninth general manager in Florida's 14-year history.
