The Hawks signed forward Brandon Bollig Saturday to a two-year entry-level contract that starts next season. Bollig, 23, had 25 points in 42 games for St. Lawrence University.
What the Hawks really signed is a tough guy, one with a Facebook page dedicated in honor of his pugilist skills. (Click here.)
Here is some more from the Hawks' official release on the 6-3, 215-pound Bollig:
The St. Charles, Missouri, native led the squad with 83 penalty minutes and finished sixth with seven goals. Bollig has appeared in 78 of St. Lawrence's 80 games over the past two seasons, collecting 38 points (13G, 25A) and 134 penalty minutes. He was named the co-winner of the team's Rookie of the Year Award after his freshman year in 2008-09.
Prior to St. Lawrence, Bollig racked up 73 points (37G, 36A) and 593 penalty minutes in 173 regular-season games spanning three seasons with the United States Hockey League's Lincoln Stars (2005-08).
