Campbell back at practice

Thumbnail image for 2bc.jpgDefenseman Brian Campbell returned to full practice for the first time Wednesday since breaking his collarbone and rib when he was checked into the end boards by the Washington Capitals star Alex Ovechkin on March 14.

"I'm not trying to put a timetable on anything," said Campbell, who meets with team doctors weekly. "I just know I will not be playing Friday night [against the Nashville Predators]."

Coach Joel Quenneville, though, didn't rule him out for later gamers in their first-round series against the Predators. He took some shots Wednesday at practice, but they were far from what he is fully unloading.

"It's baby steps," Campbell said. "It's not going out there and swinging for the fences the first day. I'm trying to get some strength. You get pretty tired."
