Special teams: October 2007 Archives

LB Jamar Williams was taken to the locker room to have his ribs examined after being injured on the kickoff coverage following Bernard Berrian's touchdown, WBBM AM-780 reports. Williams is questionable to return.

So losing NFC special teams player of the week honors to Arizona's Steve Breaston wasn't so bad after all.

Devin Hester was named the NFC special teams player of the month for September.

When you start talking about handing out awards, especially for weekly performances, you're getting into a real subjective area.

But how Devin Hester was not named the NFC special teams player of the week for his performance at Detroit on Sunday is beyond this writer. An inquiry should be starterd.

Hester racked up 314 return yards, second in league history behind only New Orleans' Tyrone Hughes, who had 347 in 1994 vs. the Los Angeles Rams. Hester scored on a 97-yard kickoff return, his seventh career kick return touchdown, bringing him within six of Brian Mitchell's all-time record.
