Bears fullback Evan Rodriguez was ticketed early Friday morning on I-90 near Hubbard Street for driving under the influence, speeding and improper lane usage, according to Illinois State Police.
"We are aware of the reports regarding Evan Rodriguez," the Bears said in a statement. "We are currently gathering information to learn more about the circumstances surrounding the situation."
It was the second time this offseason Rodriguez has gotten into trouble. He was arrested in March for disorderly intoxication and resisting an officer after a traffic stop in Miami. The charges were later dropped.
Bears general manager Phil Emery said in April he was disappointed in Rodriguez after the Miami incident and said that he "was re-educated with my expectations of a Chicago Bear off the field." Rodriguez spent much of the offseason in Florida training with receivers Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery.
Rodriguez, a fourth-round pick in 2012, was expected to have an expanded role in coach Marc Trestman's offense this coming season. A tight end in college, Rodriguez had only four catches for 21 yards last year.
