Armando Allen stays in the Bears' mix

The Bears announced that running back Armando Allen signed his exclusive rights tender on Thursday morning. He'll back up starter Matt Forte and No. 2 Michael Bush.

Allen, a Notre Dame product, has participated in 17 games for the Bears, gaining 172 rushing yards on 42 carries and scoring one touchdown. He has also has two receptions for 16 yards.

Allen's biggest value comes on special teams. He has seven special-teams tackles with the Bears.
