Notre Dame middle linebacker Manti Te'o didn't help himself on the field today at Lucas Oil Stadium, running two sluggish 40-yard dashes.

Te'o was clocked at 4.81 and 4.80 in the sprint, which is slower than some projected, given his size. At 6 foot 1, 241 pounds, Te'o isn't blessed with ideal size, so he needed speed and quickness to make up for it. NFL Network draft analyst noted that Te'o was solid in getting up to speed but didn't increase it at the halfway mark of the sprint. Te'o.jpg

Te'o could have greatly helped himself by running around 4.65.

According to NFL Network, last year's inside linebackers ran the 40 in an average time of 4.77 seconds. Meanwhile, the top interior linebacker selected in 2012, Luke Kuechly, ran a 4.58.
