As a 50+ years Bears fan this selection comes as no surprise. This guy could be the nicest person in the world but its obvious managements selection was based on one thing and it wasnt winning it was MONEY! You put a guy in there who isnt even familiar with the game let alone any of the other teams is a formula for disaster/failure. Sorry to wsay the Bears will be lucky to win 4 to 5 games at the most! I hope I am wrong and they spend the money it cost for a first rate coach to spend on first rate offensive lineman which is the basis for any championship team. That's if Cutler isnt beat up so badly after the past few years of running for his life behind a third rate offenwive line.
Interesting press conference, i'll give you my take. He was nervous, not a big deal, I think most would be nervous. You would have to be a Creighton type person to not be nervous. Cause a Creighton guy would just walk in there and grab that bear by the scruff and say "hey Bear, your ### is mine now." "You are going to be a good Bear from now on and do exactly what I say" "Grrrrr" "I am your head coach, I am am your daddy, who's your daddy Mr. Bear/ Who's your daddy?" "Creighton's my daddy" "That's right"
Outside of that he did not seem to have much in the way of specifics and was noncommittal on most topics. I got the feeling he did not know much about the Bears recent history.
What was with him and Pompei? "Gosh Dan that was the bestest question ever, my pants are in fact black, thank you for asking." "Oh another question from Dan? Amazing question Dan, your the best, I love you."
I noticed he tried to crack some jokes but they did not go over, but he kept looking for the laugh.
"The ultimate buck passes through my shoulders' Hahahaha, oh that was the quote of the day for me.
He seemed smart, nervous, and well... like he is kind of a big dork.
That's really all I got from it. Protect the QB, hit the QB. Pretty standard stuff
I have been a life long bears fan.If these hirings show nothing but a cheap way to build a team around a lame quarterback who will never amount to the champion he was supposed to be. All the bears do is waste more money on lackluster talent. I expect nothing short of a losing season with no defense and an offense that won't produce anything more than disappointment. So much for building a championship team with 2nd rate coaches who can't produce winners. I feel for Brian Urlacher and Lance Briggs who should be wearing a championship rings. McCaskey you wasted your money yet again!
