Jay Cutler excited about future with new Bears coach

Jay Cutler.jpgAfter some initial dismay, Bears quarterback Jay Cutler said he's excited about his future with the Bears under a new head coach.

''At first your torn,'' Cutler said during an appearance on the ''Silvy & Waddle Show'' on WMVP-AM on Wednesday. ''I didn't want to second-guess any decision makers, what direction they wanted to go. Then you look at what Lovie's done. We're close talent-wise. It's hard to justify a firing of a coach [that went 10-6]. Teams have four or five wins and [still] have their coach.

''[But] the more you get into the process, the more the excitement builds. I'm excited about the future and the direction this team is going. I have a lot of confidence in Phil Emery and that they're going to do a great job.''

Cutler said he would not ask to be a part of the interview process, but would not turn down the opportunity to talk with any of the candidates.

''If Phil asked me yeah. But I'm not going to petition for it,'' Cutler said. ''I am more than confident in Phil being able to do this. He's got it under control.''

I Certainly hope Emery asks for Cutler's and also Marshall's input and think that will. Emery seems to be a guy who covers all bases, perhaps even excessively so. I don't think he should get input from the janitorial staff, but talking to the people who maintain Soldier Field might be a decent idea.
