Lance Louis suffers knee injury vs. the Vikings

After kick returner/receiver Devin Hester was lost with a concussion, the Bears lost arguably their best offensive lineman this season against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.

Right guard Lance Louis suffered a left knee injury early in the third quarter and was ruled out for the remainder of the game.

Louis, who has started every game this season at right guard, was hurt when hit hard by Vikings defensive end Jared Allen during cornerback Antoine Winfield's interception return. Louis was replaced by Gabe Carimi.

Louis' injury comes at very tough time for the Bears.

After a brutal outing in San Francisco, major changes were made to the offensive line as Jonathan Scott replaced Carimi at right tackle and Chris Spencer took over for Chilo Rachal at left guard.

Rachal abruptly left the team and won't play for the Bears again this season. Spencer, meanwhile, suffered a knee injury and missed portions of the game Sunday as Edwin Williams took his spot.

The blindside hit Jared Allen put on Lance Louis was vicious, at first I figured Louis suffered a concussion not a knee injury. If its just a sprain, Louis should be ready for the Seahawks game this sunday. The Bears need Louis, if you watched the game, even the play by play guys were pointing out how important Louis is to Chicago's running game. Brings back a point I've been making, if the Bears get a couple more linemen like Louis, they'll be set.

I like Edwin Williams at left guard better than Chris Spencer, it will interesting to see if the Bears stick with Williams or go back with Spencer. I thought Williams played pretty solid for the Bears last season when he got 8 starts at left guard for an injured Chris Williams, he looked good yesterday also, he just looks stronger at the point of attack vs Spencer. I'd stick with Williams, just an opinion now GO BEARS!!

I thought Allens' hit was a cheap shot. He denied any wrong-doing of course, and the Bears did not complain, but that block on Louis was vcious when Louis was not looking. I also thought Louis was playing one of his best games, pulling out to block with good speed and positioning. I hope he is not injured badly and can come back quickly. I also hope the same for the other injuries, especially Peanut's and Hesters. The Bears need all of these players.
