D.J. Moore active vs. Vikings; Toeaina, Okoye are out

D.J. Moore scores a TD.jpgInjured wide receiver Alshon Jeffery heads the Bears' inactive list against the Vikings on Sunday. Dane Sanzenbacher also is inactive, leaving the Bears with four wide receivers -- Brandon Marshall, Earl Bennett, Devin Hester and Eric Weems. And only two of them have nothing else to do. Hester returns kicks and Weems is a key special-teams player.

With three tight ends and fullback Evan Rodriguez, the Bears likely will try to "smash-mouth" their way to victory today. It was effective against the 49ers -- until the Bears abandoned it after two plays in a 32-7 loss on Monday night.

The other inactive player are QB Josh McCown, defensive tackle Matt Toeaina, offensive tackle/guard James Brown, defensive tackle Amobi Okoye and defensive end Cheta Ozougwu.

Nickelback D.J. Moore is active after being inactive against the 49ers. Kelvin Hayden is expected to get most of the nickel reps today. Hayden was burned for a 57-yard pass reception to Kyle Williams on Monday night, but otherwise played well, according to Hayden.

Wide receiver/kick returner Percy Harvin, who is recovering from an ankle injury, is the most notable Viking player inactive. The others are QB McLeod Bethel-Thompson, CB Brandon Burton, LB Audie Cole, G Mark Asper, TE Allen Reisner and DE D'Aundre Reed.

I'm glad J.D. was back. As I said in a prvious blog entry, he is a proven player and should get his share of playing time. The Bears are simply better when he gets in the game. He is smart and tough, and rarely gets burned. He also is a great blitzing option.

DJ Moore is an awesome player! He needs more playing time to get back on track with tackles and interceptions.
