Brandon Marshall says he has heard some players use Viagra to get an edge

Adderall is apparently all the craze in the NFL.

But Bears receiver Brandon Marshall said he's heard stories of other performance enhancers players use to gain an advantage. viagra.jpg

"It's such competitive league and guys try anything just to get that edge," Marshall said. "I'm fortunate enough to be blessed with some size and smarts to give me my edge.

"I've heard crazy stories. I've heard of guys using Viagra, seriously, because the blood, it's supposed to thin," Marshall said. "I don't know. Some crazy stuff. It's kind of scary with some of these chemicals that are in some of these things, so you have to be careful."

There was no punchline, which means Marshall must really have heard that.

Given the league's stringent policies, Marshall said players have to be very vigilant about what they put in their bodies.

"Any time you take anything over the counter, if you don't approve it with your training room, you can get popped that quick. So it doesn't matter if it's DayQuil, NyQuil, any type of cough medicine - even Halls - it's a really strict program that the NFL has," he said. "Some of it's fair, but some of it kind of puts you in a tough spot as a professional athlete. Because the only thing you'll see is getting busted for PEDs, but it could be something over the counter for a little sickness. You just have to be on top of your Ps and Qs."

Asked if he's ever taken Adderall, Marshall said, "No, I don't take any medication, so I'm pretty much healthy, thank God.

"But I've had surgeries before, and I make sure that my doctors are in constant communication with our training staff to whatever I'm taking at the time. I'm thankful enough that I don't have to take any medication of any sort. That's good."

The more this guy is quoted, the smarter he sounds. I am more and more pleased that the Bears signed him up, taking a chance that he had resolved his past problems. I think he has definitely had a positive effect on Cutler, keeping him loose;while Cutler has had a solid effect on Marshall as well. Their relationship initially struck me as media Hype, but now I think it is a valid and posiotive aspect for the Bear team in general.

Lance Briggs had the best comment on the Viagra issue.
