Greg McCoy, a seventh-round pick, was informed of his release, according to a league source.
McCoy had an uphill battle to make the roster, although he played well in the preseason finale.
The Bears have a lot of experience ahead of him, with Charles Tillman, D.J. Moore, Tim Jennings and Kelvin Hayden. The Bears may have kept one fewer cornerback because of the injuries at the safety position.

I guess this was bound to happen, yet I don't like Kevin Willhite very much. He looks like the guy on the highlight reel getting beat. Maybe we can develop Isaiah Frey on the practice squad? At least McCoy looked athletic. Remember some of the fools Wannstedt used to stick at this critical position - short and slow and stiff? Remember Joe Johnson (not Rod Graves' worst pick - that wold be DL Ralph Jarvis - but close) and James Burton and Kevin Minniefield, ad infinitum? How about Jeremy Lincoln and Roosevelt Williams? Most underrated Bear CB was Lemuel Stinson.
