Tyler Palko: "I'm the starter, from what Todd (Haley) has told me"

| 6 Comments | No TrackBacks

Tyler Palko, who has seven turnovers in his last two starts, expects to be under center for the Kansas City Chiefs Sunday at Soldier Field.

"I'm the starter, from what Todd has told me," Palko said, referring to Chiefs head coach Todd Haley. "And let everything else play out, as it may."

But as the week plays out, it would appear the Chiefs would be more inclined to start former Bears quarterback Kyle Orton, who they claimed off waivers from Denver last week. The Bears put in a claim for Orton but the Chiefs had the priority because of an inferior record.

For now, though, Palko is the presumed starter at quarterback for the Chiefs (4-7), losers of four straight. The Chiefs have been savaged by injuries to key players, including starting quarterback Matt Cassel.

"I just think we're trying not to beat ourselves. We still have a lot of confidence," Palko said. "It's not like nothing's working. We're doing a lot of good things. It's just unfortunate that the things we're not doing well are getting magnified.

"As an offense, the two things you have to do is put points on the board and not turn it over. And we're not doing either of those right now. Those are self-inflicted wounds. We have to find a way to fix it."

So far, Palko said, Orton has been a great teammate.

"We have a great relationship. He has a lot of knowledge he has, that my ears are open to," Palko said. "We work well together, and I look forward to working with him in the future."

Palko was undrafted out of Pittsburgh in 2007, and he's bounced around the UFL and CFL.

Sorry Jensen but it looks liek you made a mistake. I ts hould be four straaight nto forth straight. Hey nothing personel you and I are cool but maybe you should proofred a little better befoar publishing. Jay Marrioti imo was one of the best writers at Suntimes and Idon't ever remeber him having any typos or mispellins in all the tie h ewa here.

No haugh at teh tribune is a dffeent story. He is just bad. Don't be like that looser Sean sense it wont get you anywhere.

I am a little busy to do everything for you, but okay. First we will work on who you will and won't refer to as Creighton. Now let's talk pay, I am not cheap unless your a hot female blonde, brunette, or red head... okay so just a hot female. Which Sean you are not. So it's gonna cost you, especially after refering to that thing as Creighton.

I can't believe the real Creighton would have made so many typos and spelling errors in that first comment. The only error in the real Creighton's comment was "your" instead of "you're."
The Vikings are bad regardlesss of the quarterback.

Speaking of Typo's Paul, it's the Chiefs buddy, not the Vikings. But it doesn't really matter now does it? You can either watch Orton throw it to the nearest open recievers feet or Palko throw it to nearest open DB, either way they are losing this game.

KC plays the run well but can't cover, mostly because they have no pass rush. On offense Bowe and Breaston are a good set of of recievers, but they have no TE wrth a damn, and the O-Line is a mess, Richerdson is a train wreck, Battle and McCluster are solid players. Then you have Orton or Palko, oh so scary... if your Chiefs fan.
