Rival Lions claim Chris Harris off waivers

Chris Harris won't have to wait long for a chance to burn his former team. But they won't have to wait long for a chance to burn him, either.

Harris' agent, Albert Elias, has confirmed that the Detroit Lions have claimed the former Bears starting safety, who was released Thursday. The Bears play the Lions on Nov. 13 at Soldier Field.

''It's going to be weird,'' Harris told the Detroit Free Press. ''It's going to be kind of a surreal feeling, but I think it's going to be fun. It's definitely going to be fun.''

Injuries have left the Lions thin at safety. Starters Louis Delmas (hip) and Amari Spievey (hamstring) have both been hurt his season. Vincent Fuller (elbow) was put on injured reserve Friday. Erik Coleman (sprained ankle) was put on injured reserve on Oct. 13. John Wendling, who started for Spievey against the Bears, had a bum knee earlier this season.

Last time I checked, Chris Harris won't help Detroit's running game or help keep Matt Stafford from getting his yearly injury that he's one hit away from getting. Thats Detroit's main problems right now.

A couple weeks back when Harris was injured, and Chicago was allowing big play after big play, myself, and many others on here, figured getting Harris back in the lineup would help, it didn't. While Harris didn't help when he came back in, and allowed some big plays of his own, the main problem was Brandon Meriweather in my opinion, he takes to many bad angles in pursuit, this is probably why New England let him go. Harris has lost a step but will give Detroit depth.

I like who Chicago replaced Harris with on the 53-man roster. Rookie linebacker Jabara Williams, he was a 7th rounder out of tiny Stephen F. Austin by the Rams last april. The Rams had to let him go to make way for another offensive tackle. Williams is a smart player who is good in coverage and has sideline to sideline range. He's also very coachable. The Bears gave Brian Urlacher an understudy in rookie Dom DeCicco. Now Williams, who is a weakside linebacker, will give Lance Briggs one. While DeCicco nor Williams are ready to contribute this season, by next season they will, and will give Chicago great depth behind Urlacher and Briggs GO BEARS!!

You can count on it - he'll play like a Pro Bowler.

ALL Harris is good for to Detroit is giving them secrets of the Offense and defense.

He'll be looking for work in 2012...
