Packers starting guard Bryan Bulaga, a prep All-American at Marian Central in Woodstock, said he hasn't had any problem dealing with the fact that he's a Packer from Crystal Lake facing the Bears for the NFC championship.
''Not me, I'm up here. I'm fine,'' Bulaga said Wednesday in the Packers' locker room at Lambeau Field. ''I think for my folks and my brother ... he's texting me every hour. 'I'm getting so much heat down here.' But no, it's all right. They're Packer fans, so they're able to take it, even being in the northwest [suburbs] up there.''
Bulaga, a first-round draft pick last year (23rd overall), said he grew up more of a 49ers fan than a Bears fan and won't be the least conflicted when he faces the Bears on Sunday.
''It's a big game because it's for the NFC championship,'' Bulaga said. ''It would have been this big if we'd have been out in Seattle. So it really doesn't matter that we're playing the Bears. Obviously my folks are getting a little bit more heat, and my brother. But it's still the biggest game of the year for me no matter who we're playing. It happens to be the Bears.''
