Forte matches Payton

| 2 Comments | No TrackBacks

A twisting, 27-yard catch and run on third down in the second quarter pushed Matt Forte over 500 receiving yards, which makes him the first Bears player since Walter Payton to have 1,000 rushing yards and 500 receiving yards in the same season.

I'm glad for Forte, but this has to be a shallow accomplishment since they lost the game.I am still in shock over the stupid tim-out call from the sideline, which I think was the turning point in the game. The interception in the end zone and the sack making the Bears settle for a field goal hurt as well, but that time-out call nullified a crucial first down run when the Bear offense was starting to roll.

Matt Forte has had a pretty solid season overall, and has been one of the leagues better runners since week 11, Forte's had around 90 rushing yards a game since week 11. Thats a cool stat about Forte hitting a 1000 rushing and 500 receiving. I figured Neal Anderson might have pulled it off back in the early 1990's, but the closest Anderson came was in 1990 when he had 1078 rushing and 484 receiving. Another cool thing about Forte having 7 catches today is he has now went over 50 catches every single season he's been in the league. Matt Forte is gonna be key for Chicago's playoff run GO BEARS!!
