Tough night for rookie Webb

While the offensive line turned it pehraps its best performance of the season as a whole, it was not a good night for rookie right tackle J'Marcus Webb, who was called for three holding penalties and gave up a sack.

It was evident from the start that Webb had his hands full with Cameon Wake, who entered the game ranked third in the NFL with 8.5 sacks, when Wake beat the seventh-round draft pick for a sack on in the first quarter. Wake finished with a sack and six tackles, including three for losses.

"I had bad technique coming into the game." Webb said. "I needed to come out in the second half and do better. Thankfully, I picked it up."

Webb does make some rookie penalties and lacks polish such as his footwork and technique, but those are all common for a rookie lineman and I think that even in a year where the O-line is struggling that Webb will be a key player in a line that could become a strength in the next few years.

I'm not sure what "I picked it up" means. Why didn't the Bears give the rookie some help? It was obvious that Wake was much faster than Webb.

Webb was a total disaster last night. I find it hard to believe they don't have somebody that can step in and do a better job. If that is the case thank you Jerry Angelo. How many times have we seen on other teams a rookie stepping in playing his first game doing a better job than what we saw last night? As sure as I am writing this, Webb will cost the Bears a game with a crucial mistake down the stretch, maybe even a play-off spot. He's that bad!

The Bears line believes they picked it up in the second hald. They didn't pick up anything. Tyler Thigpen and the offense hung the defense out to dry and they got tired. While the Bears defense was nice and fresh.

I would love to say nice win but the Phins where just tore up from the floor up. Thigpen is really bad. Good game next week though. That's the biggest game they will play all year.

You know the line is suppose to protect the QB and open holes for the run game. But Jay Cutler, the recievers, the coaches and the Backs are doing everything they can to protect the line and protect themselves. If the watch during the game after another hold by Webb he goes up to Cutler laughing, and Cutler is just staring at him like WTF.

Good ball control last night but not many points against a good but not great defense. But most of the ball control was do to the Bears defense toying with Thigpen.

the guys is a 7 round pick who played at a small school. this kid is getting better regardless of what anyone thinks. just think about it rookie going against vets and not doing that bad. you have veterans that are playing worst than webb. veterans that have played vs some of the best competition both college and pros. this kid just need to keep getting his ass drilled both in practice and in the game and it will make him better in the long run. after all the oline as a whole is playing better. once the offense can get into a grove and figure out the best way to execute the plays they do well this team will get better each week.

why do you guys pay creighton any attention. i mean seriously just look at the name he picked. i believe he was the same idiot in his 50's in a fat hawaiian shirt that thought he knew everything also on the cbmb. the guy is a loser and knows nothing about football. as for alex brown solid player but i think we need more than solid play on this defense. if jp was the acquisition we needed to jump start this defense then why settle down now, might as well go full speed ahead.

Ahh Jerseyboy aka Brando. I see we csnt just come to seeing the truith that Webb is a bust. He is big, yes thats nice but he also has bad footwork, is caugghht out of position half the time and struggles in pass protection. here is what PFF said about him

"Webb (-6.8) continues to struggle and gave up more than four total pressures for the fifth straight start. … "

Wow I dont think he has ever been good but people think that because he is starting and Cutler can move on his feet so he makes Webb look better thean he is. Jerseyboy you have been scooled by the King. Now go back to that waistland called New Jeersy you and that foul state make me sick.

Webb will get better with time and Mike Tice who believes in him knows that more than any Monday morning pot-gut arm chair quarterback. Tice didn't gain his reputation by tracking PFF he was a part of putting the stats in those types of football publications. The critics need to BACK OFF... Go BEARS!!!

Creighton how is a first year player who didn't start the season in his position a bust? Sometimes you really get full of yourself, you have some good points sometimes but you DON'T know it all and you have a tendency to over scrutinize. He has great potential and because of Angelo's total drafting ineptitude he is learning on the fly. If you would have noticed on the Forte TD the hole was as open as it has been all year once Webb gets a solid year under his belt and a solid off season he will be ok.
