Prediction time: Bears vs. Bills

| 32 Comments | No TrackBacks

I've been getting a weird vibe about this game as the week goes on. Having lost their last two games in overtime, the Bills are getting better. Having lost three of four, the Bears seem to be getting worse. The last thing they want to do is sleepwalk into Toronto. They could get ambushed. If that happens, their season is circling the drain.

A buddy of mine put it best. We were going over the NFL lines and making our picks like we do every week. When we got to Bears-Bills, he said: "I like the Bears talent-wise, but I like the Bills Karma-wise." I thought that summed it up pretty well.

That said, I'm still a believer. Coming off a bye, the Bears have no excuses. Bears 27-10.

By the way, nobody was even close to predicting the score for the Redskins game. Lets see if anybody can nail it this week.

The final score will be Bears 21, Bills 17...But because of the metric conversion in Canada, the Bills will actually win 27-17...I was never really good at the metric system anyway. bears will only get one TD on offense again. The Bills will kick to Hester, because they are the only team who pays as much attention to special teams as we do, and will trust their units to stop him.

Bears win 20-13

Lovie, loses a challenge or two, the Bears defense is tough, special teams are special and the offense continues to struggle in the red zone with a turnover.

This will not be a resounding defeat of Buffalo it will be a victory but not one that will make you feel like this is a playoff team bound for victories in the post season.

Cutler 1-2 picks
Forte and Chester have a good day with a touchdown and some decent yardage.

Bears Defense gets some sacks and turnovers and maybe even a score.

Go Bears

Things to keep in mind.
While Buffalo is the home team they are not the home team.
The first two games have had the stadium seating mostly fans of the opposing teams. Also, Buffalo has picked up on this and play accordingly...i.e. they have stunk it up.

If the Bears run the ball they will win easily...if they choose to mostly throw than it's anybody's game.

Also, for those travelling to the game, there is no tailgating near the stadium. the only tailgate party is the over priced corporate sponsored event, not near the stadium. That being said, to avoid the traffic nightmare that will happen, park at a GO Transit station and take the train to Union station and follow the signs to the stadium or park at Yorkdale mall and take the subway to Union.

Cheers

Don't think the Bears will be blindsided, I think they are well aware of how good the Bills have been playing. They'll come out strong and bounce back, Bears 24-10

I think the Bears will run the ball this game but still end up winning 37 to 28. I agree that the Bills are better than their record indicates, and the Bears' defense better come prepared because the Bills can score.I'd like to see alaugher bear victory about 50-0, but the game will be closer than that.

The last few weeks have been rough as a Bears fan. I mean its not like some great things aren't going on in the NFL. We have the Minnesota Vi-drama-queens providing quality family entertainment. Not to be outdone, the cowgirls are swimming in a media blitzed cowpie appropriate to the size of their stadium. What's not to like? Da Packers are stretching the limits of their medicare policy and not really looking like they are going to break out of intensive care any day soon. What's not to like?

What's not to like is that da Bears have a 2nd half gauntlet of a schedule beginning next week that has the foreboding expectation of an up to the shoulders wedgie for the entire Bear fanbase. I hate to say it, but Da Bears have been getting worse. If Jay and the O-line do not function well and win convincingly this week, we might as well call up Dallas or San Fran and have them ship us their short list for the fat ladies of the NFL because the singing will start for Chicago Sunday.

As a football fan, I enjoy good football. After watching the Lions, Chiefs, and Buc's playing quality energetic disciplined ball, I am about 2 cents short of dollar from wanting to scrap the whole organization and rebuild. The Lions would be the worthiest team to come out of the North at this point. For football's reputation, I kind of hope they pull it off. Even when da Bears have won, they have not been particularly enjoyable to watch. Only problem is that the age/talent mix on Da Bears does not lend to rebuilding. We need a Belichek-like maintenance which Lovie has attempted the last year but it may be too little too late. Martz last year would have made this year better.

Last chance Sunday: Da Bears don't botch up the whole season, they win 29-24 in a Herculian impartation of hope. Otherwise, O well, there is next year, and I am movin' to KC.

35-20 Bears. That's all she wrote.

GO BEARS!!! BEAR DOWN!

A week of reflection should have given Martz the opportunity to realize that the Defense & Special Teams are playing so well that he doesn't really need to light it up offensively in order to look good. And Martz might be kinda crazy, but I don't think he's an idiot. He may not have the players on offense to put together the second coming of his great Rams teams, but he's got the players to make a competent offense if that's what he sets his sights on. I think this is the week the offense starts to turn around simply because of that revelation.

Buffalo won't score more than 13 points unless Cutler/Martz really are stupid and turn the ball over several times. Plus, the Bills defense is really, really bad.

Bears 31, Buffalo 13.

I think the Bills will out-coach and out-play the Bears but Lovie is due to be lucky enough to win a game he should have lost. Unless Lovie's luck has run out. If that's the case, there's nothing left. That's all there ever was.

Bears will squeak by 18-13. Defense gets a safety, while offense scores one TD and 3 FGs. Bills get some points off Cutler turnovers.

Bears 15, Bills 10

When the game ends, Lovie awakens from his typical three hour slumber on Sundays (sometimes Mondays, even Thursdays) and throws a challenge flag, demanding to know from the officials where the hell he is.

Bears roll and roll early. Jay Cutler will go 29 for 36 with 321 yds, 3 td's, no int's. I'm a big believer that teams take their licks and then get right back up swinging. The Bills are haunted right now, they can't get a win. Israel Idonije will get 2 sacks...he's in front a home crowd.

Bears win 31-14

24-17 Bears.

By the way, Neil, nobody was even close to predicting the Redskins game? Go back and check the post. I had 20-17 Redskins. That's not too far off 17-14. Either way, it was a 3-point Redskins win.

Bears 14
Bills 16

The Bills are weak against the run and the Bears refuse to run the ball. Why should this game be any different? I expect bad passes and turn overs.

We got a good one for you this week Bears fans. The CFL Bills square off against the Bears. And what more fitting a place than Toronto(many tickets still available).

The Bills steller pass rush will attempt break through the Bears indomitable line. A true clash of Titans as the irresistable force faces the imovable object.

The Bills will unleash their new secret weapon this week. They have replaced their entire offense with the offensive starters from the Lingeria Football Leagues world champion LA Temptations, led by last years most improved player Riley Maddex. They believe they will confuse and enamor the Bears defense.

Not to be out done Rod Marinelli will showing his defense a film of the mating habits of the Tsavo Lions. The Bears defense also plans to counter the bimb.... Lingerie league palyers with cheesy one liners like: Baby did it hurt? When you fell from heaven?, You must be tired cause you been running through my mind all day, and their secret weapon, Hey baby I'm an NFL player and I am rich and I am drunk.

Brian Urlacher is very very very excited about this game. As we all know Brian is fluent stripper speak.

Bears 185

Bills 250

Bears generate zero pass rush and the D-line stops to talk to the lovely ladies and the secondary just lets the girls run free all game as they enjoy watching them run. Brian Urlacher has one tackle but then apoligizes for it afterwards and promises never to do it again unless she wants him too.

God, the optimists around here. The Bears are simply dreadful. The Bills will whup 'em. Bears 14 Bills 34

Okay, in the Q&A, I said the Bears would beat the Bills, so I will stick with that -- Bears 24-Bills 21.

That being said, I am not filled with hope. The last two games reminded me of how the Bears played last year... disinterested.

After a two-week layoff with lots of questions about their game strategy and Cutler's ability to make washed-up corners look like Pro-Bowl caliber vets, I don't know whether the Bears will be mentally into this game. When you start seeing comments like Urlacher's about not overlooking the Bills, then you know if any team will overlook another... it's our Bears.

Could the Bears get ambushed ala last year's game in Cincy? Sadly, I can see it happening.

If it does, we all will be saying au revoir to the Bears!

Wait Seedy how is DeAngelo Hall washed up he is a 26 year old 2x pro bowler?

Cutlers Picks on the year.

Detroit 1 pick right after he got sacked hard.
Dallas 0 Picks they have 2 pro bowl corners
Green Bay 1 pick against one of the best secondaries in football
NY Giants 1 pick well we all saw that game and I actually think that's pretty good.
Seattle 0 picks
Washinton 4 picks.

In terms of int's Cutler has had 1 bad game, that's it. He is on pace for 10 to 12 fewer int's than last year. How is this bad?

Granted Buffalo has some decent players back there but my god it doesn't take more than a tard to figure out you run the ball at the Bills if you can't do that your season is done anyway.

Matt Forte and Chester Taylor break out for 225 yards rushing while Jay connects with Greg Olsen, Johnny Knox and Earl Bennett for touchdowns.
Peppers rips the line apart for 2 sacks and a fumble with Idonije cleaning up on the other side with 1 1/2 sacks. Bears take it.
Bears 37 Bills 17.

All the meanness on this page is HORRIBLE. Bears 77-0.

bears 24 - Bills 13

Creighton you are not funny.

I am predicting Jay Cutler with another 6 sack day. Bills 28 Bears 10.

Bears win 31-17..........but I hope they lose. We need some new blood in here!

Bills win a sqeaker 49-0 when Cutler gets sacked 13 times, throws 7 picks and has 3 of them returned for TD's. He will fumble 4 times and refuse to return to the game after the third quarter, curling into a fetal position behind the bench, wetting his pants and sucking his thumb.

The Bears offense is going to break out some time. It might as well be this weekend. 27-7 Bears.

Bears 23 Bills 21

27-24 Bears

Bears win 24-13

Creighton I take it back your not only funny but your handsome and charming as well. Cheers to you oh great one.

Creighton

It's not about Hall's age, it is about the team he plays for (Redskins). Basically, everyone who ends up in Washington is washed up(e.g., Shanahan, McNabb, etc., etc., etc.)
