By beating the Dolphins, the Bears have increased their chance of making the playoffs from 67.4% to 76.8%, according to www.makeNFLplayoffs.com.
The site also reports that the team's chance of winning the division has gone from 53.9% to 62.5%. I'm guessing that number will increase significantly if the Vikings beat the Packers today.
If the Bears go 3-3 , they have a 94.5% chance of making the playoffs. They have a 51.9% chance of making the playoffs if they go 2-4 and a 8% chance at 1-5.

And if they win the next 9 games they most likely win the Superbowl in Dallas. And if my aunt had rocks she would be my uncle?
I still believe they could go all the way, I know its a real long shot but running the table particularly this week with another win against the Eagles is a long shot.
Stranger things have happened.
Packers YUK!
Go Bears!!!!!!
I'm not superstitious, but I would still prefer to speculate about and play one game at a time. I don't care about the odds, only the results.
You have to wait till all the teams play. The Bears have one more win then all the other teams yet to play. The playoff % will adjust once Green Bay beats Minn..
2 weeks ago I said that they could possibly win 3 or 4 games the rest of the way. {When they had 5 wins.} I said they would win the Dolphins' game since they were changing "chads". Little did I realize both Chads would be out. I also said that the Bears could beat the Lions with Stafford out. Although, Sean Hill looks more than serviceable. I also said they could win one of the Vikings games and possibly both if they implode. After watching that game earlier today {technically yesterday by the time this posts} it looks like they Vikings are about done and the NFL Network was talking about a Childress firing. There is a good possibility that either due to injury or the Jen Sterger situation, Favre might not be the QB when the Bears go up there in a few weeks.
2 more wins to be 9-7 is not going to cut it. They have to find 1 more win vs. the Jets, Packers, or Patriots and even that might not be enough if the Saints win out and they and the Falcons take 2 playoff spots. Who knows, with the Packers having a pretty rough schedule the rest of the way, it may come down to that last game against them to decide the division.
Hey Mikey. Are you going to pay me extra? Not only do I have to correct your football knowledge, but now word usage? It is "than" not then.
The Bears have played the easiest schedule in the league so far, based on this year's performances. Of their seven wins, the Bears have only beaten two teams that could be considered good (Green Bay and Miami), and Miami was playing with 3d stringers at QB and center.
The upcoming Philadelphia game will be a lot more indicative of whether this is actually a good team. The Bear defense matches up well with Philadelphia's offense in that the Bears have fast, athletic defensive players who can contain Vick. If I had to predict, I think Philadelphia will win, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Bears did because of the match-up.
I'm really surprised that as weak as the Bears are on the offensive line and at defensive tackle that they still managed to be 7-3. But I'm happy to have been wrong that the Bears would only win 5-6 games all season, and at least Martz stopped trying to play his idiotic sandlot football, which was about to get Jay Cutler killed. Things are looking up!
This is the big test to see how legitimate the Bears really are...I believe they can and will contain Vick, the defence is getting stronger each week, the Eagles will move the ball and score points but it wont be a blow out as people think, the question is which Bears offence turns up, if the lines continues to improve as it clearly has and crazy Cutler doesn't show up they will keep it close, this is going to be a tight one and field position may play a big part. Martz will dial up a game plan to beat the Eagles but can the offence execute it is the question, they should do at home. The Bears are on the upward curve at a crucial point in the season.
Neil,
You are mistaken. According to www.fireloviesmith.com, their chances are diminished. They are entering their final phase of playing real teams that are not crippled for one reason or another. They may have two more easy wins in the lions and the vikes. Other than that, they will have to play real teams.
There won't be a wild card from this division so you are betting that the bears do better than the pack from this point on. Put you money where your mouth is. I'm not a betting man, not a gambler, but I'll bet my paycheck on this one any day.
From looking at the schedule for both the pack and the bears, it's going to come down to the last game, the bears playing the pack in Lambaugh field. Only one will go on. Both teams will be 9-6 at this time. One will win the division and go on. The other will end up with a 9-7 record and wait till next year.
Like I said...taking bets now. Put your mouth where your pocket book is.
So much for the Queens beating the Pack. Minny should play Dallas this year and they can call it the toilet bowl. They won't be able to beat Detroit playing like that.
Do you suppose they are already tanking the season so they can get a quarterback in the draft?

"2 weeks ago I said this, but 4 weeks ago I predicted that, meh meh meh meh...then I knew that in just 3 days I would run out of tampons. That one I was super sure of!"
I wonder if you ever get tired of the whole "bragging like a three year old" thing? You come on this blog and demand recognition from Neil, Sean and the other guys on here that you were right about something.
News Flash - no one really cares.
And that Mike above isn't me.
Yeah the Vikings didn;t beat the Packers, the Packers wrecked them. As it stands you better win your division, cause it looks like 3 teams from the south are going. Strength of schedule gives all three of them the tie break over the bears. Pack have the Bears at home. Both teams have 4 tough games left. Bears Eagles is a huge game, not the BS huge game that the Vikings where when the played the Bears or the BS short week Dolphins game against a trashed team and a scout team QB. No this is a real coming to Chi and they just beat the team that Beat the hell out of the Bears. To be fare they if their recievers had not had butter fingers, they would not have just handled the Giants but destroyed them. This is not Thigpen, this Vick 2.0 a guy who has good feet right now and no picks. But hey at least we get Brady and Rodgers, and I hear the Jets are pretty darn good.
Even if you containg Vick, Graham it won't stop him, he has learned how to play in the pocket and he is really good at it.
This is the begining of the push.
No Mikey, I am right about a lot of things concerning the Bears. And that's not bragging. It is that this team is very predictable from the owner's box all the way down to the positional coaches. For the record, I apologize about the spelling thing. I did think it was you. Honest mistake.
BTW, you didn't hit a nerve. I believe I did. Trust me when I tell you that I thoroughly enjoy the blog. And the greatest thing about a computer screen and a keyboard is that a nobody like you can be a somebody.

3 teams from the south, who? They all play each other. Forgot that little tidbit, huh? The Pack? They get NE, ATL, and CHI. Where do you people get your opinions. Look at the schedules, it is set up nicely for a 9 win team to make the playoffs. East play each other as well at the end of this year. It will all boil down to that last weekend in GB. Put a bullseye on that game.
All this doom and gloom. Man, I'm not saying they will make the playoffs, but the fact they beat Miami, and GB lost to miami is always a good thing. 7-3, 7-3, 7-3. Get back at me after looking at the Saints, Falcons, Pack, Eagles, Giants, and Bucs last 6 games. See who has the best chance with the combination of games against each other and when they play NE.
Without question, the schedule gets tougher from this point on, with only Detroit and the Vikings as the weakest sisters, but the Bears really are pretty good and seem to have figured out how to adjust to their opponents.Vick poses a unique problem, and how the Bears cope with that should tell us a lot about the quality of the Bears' coaching. The Giant receivers also had a number of dropped passes, Creighton, and the Giants could easily have won that game if Eli had not fumbled after his run. They pretty well figured out what to do with Vick in the second half, and the Bears could profit from that approach.
