Phillips "happy" with start

| 2 Comments | No TrackBacks

Ted Phillips said he likes what his team has done early this season but improvement must be made.

"There are only three teams with one loss in the NFC," the Bears president said. "We're happy. We still take it a week at a time because we obviously still have to improve in a lot of areas, but to be able to say we're 4-1, we like the spot we're in."

Phillips said he would not address the status of coach Lovie Smith and general manager Jerry Angelo until after the season.

"It's a long season," he said. "We have a long way to go but I'm real happy with the progress we've made so far."

Phillips spoke at the owners' meetings held at the Palmer House Hilton on Tuesday.

real happy with 4-1, sure. i get that, Ted. how happy are you with your offense being dead last in 3rd down efficiency, woefully understaffed, outmanned and totally out-muscled on the offensive line? how happy are you w/your backup QB situation, or that little matter that led to having to go there to begin with - namely the crushing ineptitude by said offensive line, their position coach and the group's coordinator and their totally humiliating and dangerous ineffectiveness in protecting your organization's bazillion dollar franchise QB, perhaps jeopardizing his career?

how happy are you about these things, Ted? don't worry, i won't even bring up the Tommie Harris issue. that'd be piling on!

Ted Phillips is a great football mind. Sure, he's a bean-counting accountant who doesn't know anything about football, but we're 4-1, and headed to the Super Bowl!!

Here are my blogger Power Rankings:
1. Kevin Bumstead (brilliant mind full of insight)
2. Brando (brilliant mind full of insight)
3. Timmer (brilliant mind full of insight)
4. Stuckinwisconsin (brilliant mind full of insight)
4. Joe Felicelli and val (often mean spirited and critical)
5. Creighton and Mike (Bad, bad people filled with hate and jealousy for Ted, Jerry, Frank Omiyale, and everybody great in the Bears organization.)
