Fearless prediction: Bears 24, Seahawks 13

| 47 Comments | No TrackBacks

It's that time of the week again, a time to look back on last week's predictions and ahead to this week's.

I picked the Bears to beat the Panthers 16-10. Several of you were closer to nailing the exact score of 23-6. Tripper and creightonneedshisdiaperchanged picked 24-10. Nicely done. MSBearsFan liked the Bears 24-13. Another good guess. The realist predicted 17-9 while Mr. Cox, a lifelong Bears fan and North Carolina resident who attended that mostly awful --- and seemingly endless --- game, picked the Bears 20-12.

In other words, we're still waiting for someone to successfully predict the exact score of a Bears game, which brings us to this week.

I originally was thinking 19-13 Bears but have since arrived at 24-13.

Mark it down.

Bears 27 Seahawks 14

If the Bears can have any amount of success running the ball this week, they'll be doing something. The Seahawks have the leagues 2nd ranked rushing defense allowing only 72.8 yards on the ground a game. A big, and I do mean big, reason for that is the right side of their defensive line. Seattle's right defensive tackle Colin Cole is all of 328lbs, and has 15 tackles on the season himself, and at right defensive end you have Red Bryant, who is a slim 323lbs and also has 15 stops this year. Thats 651 pounds on the right side alone. Oh yeah, at left defensive tackle, Brandon Mebane is only 311. Needless to say, if Chicago can move the ball on the ground this week vs this defensive line, they really have gotten better up front, it will be a good test for Chicago's offensive line.

Here's the catch for Seattle although, they're ranked 31st vs the pass on defense. Seattle's front doesn't get a very good pass rush other than left defensive end Chris Clemons, who has 4 sacks on the year. If rookie tackle J'Marcus Webb can take care of Clemons, Cutler will be able to tear up the Hawks with his arm. The Seahawks secondary isn't that impressive either, especially is their top corner Marcus Trufant is out sunday. The other corner for Seattle is Kelly Jennings who has yet to pick off a pass this season. Jay Cutler and his receiver should have a good game this weekend, I look for Cutler to put up 300 yards if everything goes right.

On defense Chicago should have their way with Seattle. Quarterback Matt Hasselbeck has yet to top the 250-yard mark, and Seattle's receivers are pedestrian at best. And Seattles offensive line hasn't started the same 5 all season, center Chris Spencer has the most starts for the Hawks up front with 4, thats probably the main reason Seattle has the leagues fourth-worst rush offense in the NFL with a dismal 79.5 ypg. Throw on top of all that the fact Chicago has one of the leagues best defenses vs the run, and this should be another W in the ol win column for Chicago, Bears 28 Seahawks 6 GO BEARS!!

Hey, Sean. Unfortunately, I have a very bad feeling about this week. Leon Washington is always a threat, Lynch has something to prove... and what bothers me most is that virtually everyone is picking the Bears. Coming off the Seahawks bye and possible Bear's shock at being favored, I see this as a trap game. Hate to say it, but Seahawks 27 Bears 19.

Bears 27 Seahawks 13

Gould is my fantasy kicker. Bears 27-13.

Maybe I should change kickers? And the haters can kiss Lovie's and JA's collective 5-1 a**.

Bears 35 - 14. Bear Down!!!

I feel this is the game that the offense puts forth its best (well-rounded) effort. The defense will give up some early points, but like they tend to do, they will settle down.

Final score:

Bears 31
SHawks 17

31-14 Bears!

Bears 27 Seachickens 10

Ditka 128, DaBears 28, Hawks 13

Bears 24 Seahawks 20

creightonneedshisdiaperchanged....hahahaha classic! His mommy's probably changing him right now!

Bears 40 - Seahawks 20

Seattle just plain sucks on the road. Bears 30 - Seattle 9

Chuck, how do you expect anyone to kiss Lovie's a$$ when your head is in the way? I mean it's obvious your lips have been firmly planted on his derriere for some time now.

Bears 34 Seattle 16

Forte (& maybe Taylor) will have huge receiving numbers, but the running game won't get much of anywhere so once again the sky will be falling around the Bears running backs. Seattle will get good field position all day because of their special teams, but won't be able to do much with their offense besides set up field goals. I look for Peppers or Idonije to block at least one FG this week! Bear down!

Kevin, is there a reason you list the weights of both defensive and offensive linemen all the time? You especially seem to have some kind of fixation with Webb because he's a big guy. Do you realize that actual football skill and talent weigh more heavily (pun intended) than size? No, probably not. Just keep screaming "GO BEARS!!!" at the end of all your posts and maybe no one will notice that you really don't get football.

34-6 Bears

Bears 31 Seahawks 16

Bears 27 Seahawks 17

Bears 24-Seahawks 17

I also think that we are going to have trouble with Seattle, especially if we get the 1-2 punch from Forsett and Lynch in the running game. We still struggle on quick hitting edge plays, especially if the corner can be blocked by the WR. Urlacher and Tinoisamoa can be caught up in the wash inside and miss the gap before the back gets upfield.

Hasselbeck will get more than 250 yards this week, especially with our off-coverage style. Guys will be open all day. The trick is going to be the backs out of the backfield to move the chains. Urlacher will probably have to cover Carlson, so that leaves Roach and Pisa to cover the backs, and they had better be up for it. If I were Seattle, I would put Mike Williams on Jennings' side, and play the jump ball game all day for big plays.

The final score will be 31-28 Bears at home getting a slight edge, but we will need at least one score on special teams or defense to do it. Without that, we lose 28-24.

Bears 31 / Seahawks 13

On the other hand and for fun:

Ditka 31 / Seahawks 2: Ditka gives run backwards 99 yards to give the 'hawks a sympathy 2 points for a safety at the end of the game.

31-0 all 4 phases will be on key.

Da Bears 24 (*With A Defensive Touchdown) Sea Hags 13

Time to open up the screen game and tight ends. Bears will be lucky to crack 80 yards rushing but with a score by the defense and special teams, who cares.

Bears-30 Seahawks-13

Yikes sees this as a trap game??? Perhaps if we had just beaten Dallas and Green Bay but not between Carolina and Washington. If Seattle plays its best on the road, Washington returns a TD, and Cutler throws +3 interceptions the Bears could lose -- but I see the Bears pulling away in the third quarter for a 24-12 victory.

30-17 Bears

I hate to say it guys but I think were in trouble for this one. The Seahawks now have a Pro bowl running back to go along with Matt Hasselbeck, who is bound for a break out game. The Seahawks are also getting Russell Okung back and he should make a big impact on the line. Finally, I never have and never will trust Jake Cutler, Its like having a immature child run our offense.

Bears 6
Seahawks 28

Bears 34 Seahawks 17

Book it!!!

Did you Sea the Chickens cross the road? Yah, they were Cut up and picked apart by Bears--a massive road kill down on South Lake Shore Drive.

Da Bears have consistently under Lovie not lost games they should win. To take the North, Da Bears must have this game and "should" win. Da Bears are extremely healthy relative to the rest of the NFL. It will really take a concerted flop to lose this game.

There is a lot to be excited about. Hasselback is not very good, and his supporting cast is without glamour. Our Defense has the big Momo carrying it along. They should not be able to run or pass. How wonderful is that?

Cutler is the kind of quarterback that does not care that much about the defense if he can get rid of the ball. The line gained a great deal of confidence last week. It was kind of nice for Collins to be so horrible last week. He can take all the blame and negativity upon himself and go sit on the end of the bench and "prepare." The rest of the O should be excited and ready to go. The receivers should be juiced coming out of Carolina getting Jay back. Hopefully Mike Tice is earning his paycheck.

Anyone notice that Da Bears special teams are the NFL's best. Toub's bunch excells every year. C-hawgs can't keep up.

I like Neil's score. I am going to be a little more optmistic. 30-13 Da BEARS DA BEARS DA BEARS!

I would really like to say 31-20 Seahawks win. But even though im a diehard Seahawks fan, it might just be closer then that. 24-20 Seahawks win. That hawks d line is going to light up the undersized inexperienced bears o line. But if they don't. 28-9 bears win.

20-19 Chicago in typical nail-biter fashion

Bears 27 Seahawks 13

Bears 30 - Seahawks 13

30-20 Bears win!

A life time BEARS fan now living in Seattle, I think DA Bear's will unfortunately falter because CUTLER will get knocked out of this game too, unless they stick to running it again for 30+ carries. If so, BEARS win 19-17. If not, Seattle wins 24-21. GO BEARS!!!!

27 - 13 da bears!

Bears 24, Seahawks 13

Hester punt return TD
Cutler to Knox TD
Cutler to Forte TD
Gould 23yd FG

Forsett TDx2

Bears 24
Seattle 14

Kevin,

No worries, you were just told that you know nothing about football by the most football ignorant person that bothers to post here. I think you're safe.

What's the matter Mikey, can't kiss Lovie's rear with Chuck there? Since you never whine or complain, I am sure there is room enough for both of you there. You've got a cheek with your name tatooed on there anyway.

As for the game, Usually Hasselbeck does fairly well against the Bears, but it has bee a few years since he's led a Seahawks team against the Bears and he doesn't have much of a running game to compliment any type of passing attack. The Bears need to move Cutler around in and out of the pocket and not rely on this "new" offensive line.

Bears win,

31-13

You know I get people like to banter with me and argue with me, because let's face it, it's pretty fun. However, could those of you who do like to do that focus a little less on my pelvic region. Seriously it's either me in pink panties or me in a diaper, either way you guys seem to have a bit of a pelvic fantasy thing going on and some very strange taste in what kind of outfits you fantasize me wearing for you in your dreams. It's a little creepy, that's all I am saying. You have even done it to Sean asking him to wear purple panties. If you don't like woman that's cool but if you want to talk about your fetishes this is not the blog and I am sure I am not your guy. Try looking around the net a little more I am sure you will find someone. Thank god Favre doesn't post here I would be getting text messages of his junk.

Kevin or Brando which ever one of you ladies wrote this, I am cool with it but if your going to write a response to your own post you want to do the response after the actual post not before it. Cause then it's just wierd. It also points to the fact that you are lame enough to respond to your own post. My guess is you original post was missed by Neil, you wrote the response a couple minutes later and then when you came back to check you saw it was not posted and wrote another post about 4 hours later. Not the first time this has happened has it? If you blow a joke just skip and try again next time ok. I can't believe I constantly have to teach you guys how to properly make personal attacks on me on a blog. It's been years you need to get with the program.

Mike of course Kevin posts about guys weights. He has always had a thing for large men. Why do you think he hooked up with Brando? He took one look at that big hairy 400 pounder and it blew his mind, both of them. After all it's not often conjoined twins go for the same guy. But the moment they saw him at the zoo running around with that whole sheep in his mouth swining from a tree by his tail, they new they had to have him. And let's face it the zoo couldn't wait to get rid of Brando after those animals disappeared.

Anyway lets look at the game.

Despite popular belief the Seahawks are not actually good against the run. It's just teams have been too busy passing on them to run the ball much. Every QB except Smith has put 280+ yards on them and 2+ td's on them. Nobody has really had to try and run against them.

They have one of the worst pass defense in the league and no real pass rush. One end is very small, he is fast but small, really small, 230 pounds small he is a decent player but nothing special and you can run all day on him. The other end is none other than DT Red Bryant, yes they have a large slow run stuffing DT playing end. At best he is a large 5 tech but sense they play a 4-3, oh well.

On offense their line is weak, they can't run block or pass protect. Their recievers are not a threat, they have one good TE, a decent back, and an experienced QB who can;t do much because of the line.

This teams strength is special teams, where they are in fact better than the Bears.

Bears are at home this should be a cake walk with Cutler back.

34-16 Bears.

Time for a 40-burger. Bears 41, Seahawks 13.

Bears 17 hawks 10

Bears will score 12 touchdowns and kick 7 field goals. I know the math gets complicated, but I think that comes out to Bears 105, Seattle 0!

23 Seahawks 20 Bears. Bears are the worstest team in the NFL.

Roger- A trap game is also when you take an opponent lightly. The Bears obviously believed the hype about this being the soft part of the schedule and that they would go into the bye with 6-1 record. With the serious flaws on our line, the Bears have no reason to take ANY opponent lightly. Unfortunately, with the Bears o-line personnel and the way they have already been exposed, I don't see this circus ending anytime soon. Angelo foolishly bet the farm that a group of inexperienced linemen would somehow magically gel under a "great" coach. After witnessing Marinelli's "magical" impact on the d-line last year, Angelo learned nothing. I believe Einstein said the definition of insanity is repeating the same action and expecting different results. That said, Angelo is insane... or just plain stupid. And Martz is following his lead.
