Bears announce signing of Bullocks

| 27 Comments | No TrackBacks

The Bears just issued a release, announcing the signing of restricted free agent safety Josh Bullocks.

Bullocks signed his one-year tender offer from the Bears. If Bullocks is signed away by another club, the Bears would receive a third-round pick.

Last season, Bullocks appeared in 12 games with four starts, finishing with 21 tackles. For his career, he has six interceptions, 28 pass break ups and four forced fumbles.

Okay.. I know a beating is coming for this post.. Good signing.. If you watched the last 2 games when Bullocks was starting at FS.. he did well. Very few break downs and little-0 blown coverages. I thought Bullocks and Steltz held their own manning the FS/SS spots.. Bullocks is a pure FS, yet he hardly got a look there. I would start him at FS from day one of OTA's unless something better comes along.. I could care less what his stats were with the Saints. He had a very good college career and is known as a smart player with good instincts. I would rather have Bullocks there then Manning.. I know Creighton will be standing on his bed screaming at this post... llol... Just a one fans opinion.. Im still hoping they can snag Otogwe (spelling?) from the Rams..

If the Bears get a 3rd round pick for Bullcocks I would crap myself. I can see the Bears cutting this guy if no team is willing to give up a 3rd round for him. And Im sure other teams know that as well.
For a team to give up a 3rd round for most any player they better be a starter!

Thats all folks

O.K. 3rd round for Bullocks.
2nd round for Greg Olsen from Giants
2nd round for Vasher and Tommie Harris from Cardnills
1st round for Urlacher, Hester and Tillman to who ever will take these scrubs.

See there ya go people I fix the draft problem. It isnt gonna be hard to do.... not if the Bears sign me to a contract to take over player opperations.
Heck Im qualifyed, I post here 2-20 times a day and Im always write on the money! I can look up scouting reports and post the LINK. Im very good on telling people what to do and how to do it. I can make people even think like me. I know I know its scary freaky. Also I know every stat in the world just try me! One more thing that qualifys me for the Head of players opperations I know the inside outs on every defenceive system and offencive system in the NFL.

So you see I can do this I know they read my post all the time and Angelo seems not to want to do it my way cause he is scared. Well Im Not Scared. Bring it!

Here I go off in the sunset ridding my high horse..... not in a soapbox and not on a high road but thats right my High Horse.

I admired Bullock since day 1! I hope he gets to start soon!

I think you could get more for Olsen. New England owns three 2nd round picks in the upcoming draft and we all know how much New England loves to trade 1st round picks if they are picking low. I would send them Olsen, Vasher, and Chicago's 6th round pick for two of their second round picks and a future 1st. Arizona would never assume Harris's contract when they are shedding contracts.

"Here I go off in the sunset ridding my high horse..... not in a soapbox and not on a high road but thats right my High Horse"

Creighton you shouldnt feed marijuana to a horse or blow marijuana smoke in a horses face. It doesnt have the same affect to a horse then when you do it.

Outta Here!

Learn how to spell first creighton

Last year Bullocks was signed as a street free agent and he hardly played for the Bears. Those are the same Bears, who although I them love dearly, had a terrible secondary last year.

And you think somebody is giving up a third to sign him? Why?

After all that I still think it was a good signing. Bullocks may be the only natural free safety currently on the team.

I just LOVE Josh Buttocks. He's the bestest and wonderfulest safety in da whole NFL!

Whomever it is who somehow thinks that the fake posts are funny or even mildly witty should think twice. It's getting to be a chore to even follow the blog because nearly half of it is just plain b.s.
If you want to write something, fine, do so and put your own name on it. Otherwise, you're just looking more and more like a tiresome idiot.

Maybe some basic editing of the blog would help?

No one is going to give away a 3rd round pick for Bullocks. I think the Bears are realistic to know that.
Bears signed him because they aren't going to get any better at that position this year. Free agency is over with for improving your team. The draft isn't going to help the Bears this year unless they trade away future draft picks...and guys...that can surely happen since angelo and lovie are fighting for their jobs. Either way...you would have to draft the top safety in order to even have a chance of improvement this year at that position. I don't see that happening.

Talking about draft picks...maybe the bears can get a 15th round draft pick for Lovie....and for angelo...heck..we'll give him away.

Hey Creighton I know a little football also, But as long as we are playing G.M. lets really fix this team for this year. Trade next years first rounder to Denver for Brandon Marshall before Seattle scoops him up. J. A. always screws up #1 picks anyway. Then trade Olsen and a 4th or 5th rounder to Rams for Atogwe! Then use the rest of our Picks on the offensive line. Tice can find the type of guys it takes to play in the Martz system and we would be pretty solid on both sides of the ball!

When are they going to get a real safety? In 25 years they've had 2 good safeties; Fencik and Mike Brown. Period. That's pathetic.

Now that Bullocks has signed his tender, he is no longer on the RFA market. Teams can still trade for him, but his marketability is non-existent now. He can't make visits to other teams without specific permission from the Bears.

In my opinion, Williams, Manning, and Anderson are the only potential guys who could get offer sheets. Likely if a team is interested, they will call Angelo first and see if he will take a lesser draft pick and trade them. Manning is the only one who might get signed with a 3rd rounder attached. Teams might want a Pro Bowl kick returner who can also play corner or safety in a pinch. Williams has appeal to Tampa 2 defenses, but could be a 4-3 weak side backer in other schemes as well. Anderson is still a former 12 sack guy who is still young, and could generate interest.

I am still not sure what they will do with Olsen. I expect them to move him, but is it a case of where they have a specific player in mind that they want, and they will wait until the draft is underway before making the move? I don't think Angelo is that clever, but it could be what he is trying.

I would say that Lilja and Atogwe still need to at least be visited with. We don't have to offer them a deal, but we need to at least make an effort to talk to them and find out whether they want to come here.

Should have seen this coming. Bullocks, REALLY ? If this is the direction Jerry is going AGAIN, it's just more crappy play from a position that was weak last year. We've already been down this path. Bullocks should have been released, along with Wolfe, A.P., Vasher ect... to create cap space for Otagwe. Trade Olsen for a second round pick, I'm tired of hearing about his potential, he's been here 3 yrs. and certainly is'nt going to the Pro Bowl anytime soon !

Maybe the Olsen to the Rams for their FS might work. I would rather do that than get a 2nd rounder from NE. If Jerry did that and used the 3 and 4th round picks on O line, earth mover type G and RT, I would be happy.

Okay, I'd like to know where all this "Bullocks is great" talk is coming from. He's not good, great, or even average. In fact, he was bad. He was REALLY bad. Of course he looked good the last game: it was the LIONS. And that game was way more competitive than it should have been because of the defense, particularly the secondary. Heck, Bullocks had two or three plays that added to his highlight reel of bad plays, including a play where he was inexplicably on the wrong side of the field, ran the wrong way, which took other defenders out of the play and wound up leading to a first possession score for the Packers.

It's like Angelo wants to make Jim Hendry look more competent in comparison.

I am a big Olsen supporter but he really didnt have the kind of year last year I felt he would have. Could be Turners system, but if he stays - this is his last year to produce, and Martz will have to adjust his philosophy to make Olsen get some looks. Not sure if that will happen or not. Problem is we just gave ALOT of money out, so its gonna be tuff to sign any more Free Agents, I would like a trade for a first and get Marshall, and we need a Safety in the worst way, it really looks as if this is it, and wait for the draft, Not sure we could get what Olsen is worth, but if the Bears are not gonna utilize his pass receiving ability then they better trade him while the tradin is good.

Wow Timmer/Brando you once again post right after a fake Creighton. But claim its not you. Hahahaha.

Oh and I love the fact you still don't know what a high horse is, google it idiot. You actually think a high horse is a compliment. Let me help you oh slow one.

You think I get on a Soap box and I say I prefer a high horse. You think high horse must equal good.

Soapbox def: A temporary platform used while making an impromptu or nonofficial public speech.

That was your idea of an insult. I said no I think of myself as more of a high horse person.

High Horse def: A mood or attitude of stubborn arrogance.

I see myself as more arrogant than preachy. Which of course I have always stated I am. I am very arrogant.I can't believe you actually think High Horse and riding off into the sunset on a horse is the same thing. How thick are you. I can't believe I actually have to explain this to you. This is worse than when I had to teach you about leverage.

Oh and you want better spelling? Fine here I will actually pay attention for two seconds, supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. Yes thats an actual word. Are you here to talk football? Or do you think this is a spelling bee blog?

Finally on to Bullocks. Speaking of spelling I always found it intresting that Bullocks is slang for bull####. Which this move is, he means little to the team and has done little for the team. He is nothing more than bad depth, he has zero instincts. I find it funny that the ymade a hard push for Rolle but sense plan A failed there and sense Angie usually doesn't have a plan B the Bears will end up hoping that the players they have suddenly become talented. Of course Angelo is hoping when roster cuts come around someone cuts a top of the line free safety, cause that happens so often.

By the way if you think I post a lot you should look in the mirror Brandy, you have at least three posts on this one article, to my one. I post 2 to 20 times a day, could you be anymore broad with that claim. You basically say sometimes I don't post a lot and sometimes I do post a lot. No kidding really.

Well class is over for today Brandy and now you know what a high horse is. Everyone give Brandy a round of applause, he learned something today. Thats a big day for you. Now you can run around telling everyone to "get off their high horse". I am so proud of you, you doing so good, like a real big boy.

I think i would rather have a 3rd round pick.

the bears could have got antonio cromartie for a 3rd
and yeah i know he's had a few bad years but he would have been an instant upgrade at corner.

they could have got a better safety in the draft.

this is just idiotic

"O.K. 3rd round for Bullocks.
2nd round for Greg Olsen from Giants
2nd round for Vasher and Tommie Harris from Cardnills
1st round for Urlacher, Hester and Tillman to who ever will take these scrubs.

Lay off the Booze man..

lol is everybody here Brando? Creighton your obsesed with this Brando guy. We can all tell you miss him so much you want to believe that other people are him. I posted twice on this. Not only can you not count but you cant spell nor give a correct stat.

And you talk about pushing peoples buttons well someone is pushing yours all the time but yet your to blind and dumb to notice.

Later Gator.

What are allyou haters whining about? Bullocks is the real deal! See check out his highlite real!!!

This is a reply to Creighton's post. I never reply to these but your post was so stupid I just had to reply. You clearly have no concept of value of NFL players! A first round pick for Tommie Harris? He is untradable with a 10 mill a year contract, even in an uncapped year. When players such as Vince Wilfork are signing for around 7 mill a year. Tommie has no value. 1st round picks for Urlacher, Hester and Tillman? Looking at Urlacher's injury history and contract maybe a desparate team would give up a 3rd round pick. Hester with his contract and production has 4th round value, as does Tillman. Nate Vasher unproductive, expensive contract can't start for his team and someone is going to give up a 2nd round pick for him? No chance with the injury history no value they will cut him. 3rd round for Bullocks again the Bears safety play was some of the worst in the league and this guy could onlyu start 2 games and they are going to ge a 3rd round pick for him? 6th round value. I could see maybe a 2nd round pick for Olsen. It is lame posts like yours that make Bears fans seem unintelligent, that means they do not appear to be smart. Why stop there I am sure you believe they could get a 2nd round pick for Jason McKie,we won't need Desmond Clark he should be worth a 2nd round pick, Kevin Jones wow they really liked him teams need a running back, he should be worth a 2nd round pick, oh yea they just cut him (probably did not want to deal with all those draft picks). While you are at it instead of firing Lovie Smith and Jerry Angelo after next season we should trade them I am sure combined the Bears would get a 1st round pick for them! You are an idiot and maybe your 10 year old nephew was impressed with your sports knowledge, i was not.

It is better to have Bullocks than to not have him. I really do not get why the Bears have not seriously looked at Graham in a Free Safety role. Decent size, strength, speed is good for a safety not a corner, tackles well, seems to have good instincts.

What up Bears?

This is real foolishness Brando and Creighton. All these stats to prove your football geniusness. This is a fans format not your personal blog which I already know you have. Fans are fanatics for their team they are emotional and maybe sometimes pie in the sky. Like when they think our junk is someone elses treasure. They may not understand how really useless Vasher has become or how Harris value has declined with his health and attitude they still see them as Pro Bowlers not the shadows they were. But the organization is just as clueless. Maybe this season of self-preservation will become a season to remember for realist and fanatics. But all those doggone stats need to go and these personal idiot posts need to go.

Um, Williams, you do realize that Creighton didn't make that post? It is pathetic watching adults (I think) post under other people's names.

No, I don't think the Bears are going to get a 3rd for Bullocks. They are doing this so they at least have some bodies at safety on the roster.
